I was delighted to be asked back again by the very talented team of http://www.yvonnemaher.com/ & http://www.bridalhairbymarie.com/ to create a shoot with an editorial feel of old world charm with a twist. Our location for our shoot is the wonderfully splendid Left Bank Bar in the heart of Kilkenny city http://www.leftbank.ie/. The staff & management could not have being more helpfull & generous with their time & use of their building & a big thanks goes to Clodagh for allowing us this privilege.
We had quite a large production team on this shoot with Myself,Vicky & Kalle looking after the photographic duties whislt Hair & Makeup was looked after by Marie & Yvonne. Our models were Aine,Vicky & Aindrea whom excelled themselves throughout the shoot. We also had a behind the scenes video of the shoot with http://www.theweddingvideoman.com/Aboutus.html Brendan looking after this.
All clothes were supplied by Agnes & the girls from Lola Rose Boutique in Kilkenny city http://www.lolarosekilkenny.ie/ some really amazing dresses & designs & worked really well on camera.
The lighting setup was kept very simple with a single light source (Bowens 500w) head with Honeycomb grid to prevent light spill. As i was using a mixture of natural daylight & back lighting having control was very important to create that dramatic effect. My lens of choice was a 70-200mm 2.8 & a 35mm prime all shot on a canon 5d.

All images shot upstairs in Left Bank Bar.
I was delighted to be welcomed back to work for http://vintageireland.eu/ again this year. I shoot the actual fair about twice per year and with Vintage being so on trend at the moment the fairs are a huge success. Joan whom runs the fairs puts a huge amount of work into the marketing of the fair and sets the standard very high indeed.
This year we decided to shoot the promotional campaign in dublin City center not far from fade street in a beautiful boutique hotel called Kelly’s directly above Hogans pub,the hotel is a popular spot for TV3 promo’s & shoots and with the very funky decor its easy see why. As i arrived the production team from TV3 were already filming so everybody was already prepped & ready to be shot,a photographers dream 🙂
Hair on the day was done by the amazing Joyce Clarke Henry Tel; 087 626 2237
Make Up by the very talented Amanda Hynes Johnston www.facebook.com/ruby.garnetmakeup
Styled by Irene otherwise known as Vintage Irene www.irene.ie
Models were Teo & Jade from 1st Option
It was on a cold & quite surreal October morning I was delighted to be invited on a Vintage Inspired Photoshoot with an amazing team of industry professionals. I was in my element as i am a huge fan of all things alternative & vintage so choosing a theme such as this was always going to be fun.
With a coffee in hand it was time to scope out the grounds of Mount Juliet. We could not have been more welcomed by the very lovely staff in Mount Juliet and especially Lillian whom made us feel very welcome. I have been down to Mount Juliet in my other role as a Wedding Photographer so i was quite familiar with the landscape.
There was quite a large production team on the shoot made up for makeup artists, hair stylist, models & assistant photographers.

Behind the scenes 🙂 Photo thanks to Lambre http://www.lamberdebie.ie/
Big thanks goes to Aidan from Kapelli hair salon on Patrick Street for organising this shoot, the concept of this shoot was Forbidden Fruit with a darker tone to some of the looks with more alternative makeup & hair. We had quite a large production on this shoot with 2 assistant photographers Ken & Vicky whom were busy rigging lighting & prep work.
We also had the pleasure of working with Yvonne Maher who’s a fantastic artist in Makeup and fullfilled the high end editorial look perfectly.
For the Gowns we sought out a very strong & high fashion look with gowns from Tia Dora bridal boutique in Knocktopher & many thanks to Noleen for putting up with us 🙂
Hair was styled by Aidan himself who’s fantastic at creating something different in such a short turnaround and was as always very accommodating with the whole production crew.
Also a big thanks to Butler house who let us use the beautiful gardens & House, its not everyday you see 2 brides walking up Patrick street & on a sunday 🙂
Our models for today were Emma Shore & Deirdre Gannon who were absolutely fantastic & were very focused with the direction considering it was climbing to 24 degrees in the shade! Well done girls & best of luck to you both on your respective Wedding Days this year.
The lighting on todays shoot was a mixture of Strobist & Natural fill with reflectors. Shot mostly in open shade.
Take at Jenkinstown just outside Kilkenny,so the sun didnt come out but the rain sure did. Heres the lovely Prya contemplating my next move incidently without the fancy light set up this turned out to be my fave image from the shoot.
Taken at the back of the Cinema in Kilkenny. Funny thing was there was soccer training to the left of the image and im sure the lads must have thought why is the a bride jumping out of a jeep and a full production team following 🙂 Mind you we did get a big cheer when we left.
It would have being too easy to give up just because of the first drop of rain so this just makes me work harder and push myself to use available light & locations. A fun day.
These are some shots i took of Piya downstairs in the Pembroke Hotel in Kilkenny City recently. I had the pleasure of meeting Piya before and she is great fun to shoot giving the photographer lots of choice and is very professional in her approach to modelling. My good friend Seamus Costello had organised the shoot and demonstrated some really cool lighting techniques that we applied to these images. As with most of my work i prefer to get a lot of the results correct when shooting rather than rely on photoshop over production later as this keeps my focus on perfecting my technique.
Had the pleasure of meeting a former Miss Ireland Aoife Hannon recently at a workshop training day at the Pembroke Hotel in Kilkenny City. This shoot was part of a boudoir inspired photoshoot with some local photographers hosted by Seamus Costello & Tony Tang.
Hair was styled by Aiden from Kapelli & Makeup was by Yvonne Maher. Boudoir has taken the photography world by storm in the last few years and continues to grow with even some dedicated makeover studio’s setting up in Dublin & Limerick.
Aoife is originally from Listowel and was great fun to work with on the day and very patient with the many photographers in attendance. Aoife was crowned Miss Universe Ireland in 2011.
